You have just undergone a surgical procedure. Excessive physical activity should be avoided for the next two days and rest as normal.
Salt water rinses starting the day after surgery, a mouthful 6-8 times a day.DO NOT rinse vigorously. (1 tbsp. Salt, per 8 oz. water)Alternate peroxide and water (50/50)rinses 4 to 6 times daily.
AVOID disturbing the incision. DO NOT lift the lip to look at the surgical area as it tends to pull the tissue apart.
BLEEDING: cover the area with a sterile gauze pad and hold in place for about 15 minutes or until the bleeding stops. Do this for excessive bleeding ONLY, do not force gauze into lip fold.
PAIN AND INFLAMMATION: Advil or any pain relieving tables you normally take to control pain. If pain persists call the office.
SWELLING: You may experience moderate swelling. Use an ice bag or cold pack on the face over affected area for 20 minutes of of the hour. USE ONLY ON THE DAY OF SURGERY, any swellign afer the first day is attributed to the healing process. If you have a temperature within 1 or 2 degrees of normal, this is no cause for concern.
DO NOT CHEW on the side of the incision for 2 weeks after surgery and take precautions not to disturb the incision while brushing. Use a Q-Tip soaked in warm water to the cleanse the teeth and gum in the surgery area.
STITCHES will be removed 3 to 5 days after surgery, unless directed otherwise.
NO SMOKING for 48 hours after surgery.
NO BRUSHING, FLOSSING, WATERPIK IN SURGERY AREA FOR ATLEAST 5 DAYS
